This 'x' is equally the newest, yet oldest piece of lore.
This symbol began as simple sketches of mirrored geometric designs, which appeared with random inspiration. They went on to fill two pages. I was asked by a classmate if they were butterflies, but I did not have an answer to provide. These sketches were pieces of concept art for the start of the first book, but they lacked a distinct meaning (other than art style). Later versions of this symbol began to take form in later years as more "ink-blotch" designs. This was simply due to the mirror style of such works fit well with the shape of the symbol. I never saw it as a letter, but rather a design. The term Diunix arrived as a sort of biproduct from the automatic writing process of book one. This symbol takes the form of a machine, symbols on characters, designs on armor, and engravings along with the language in some early drafts (which will carry on into the lore expanding book one). It later became a chapter marker for Nitro and Tyrin as the chapters of Predeceased Ascension unfold between their perspectives. Further life and lore behind this symbol, diving into the more solidified cosmic horror element, and a sort of spirituality for the aliens in the stories, really only originated recently with the formation of this website. The take on sprituality can be compared to the Hindu concept of atman and brahman.
